Welcome to Heinle's General Store

Welcome to Heinle’s General Store – a cherished landmark and community hub located in the heart of Cochecton, New York. Established in the early 1900s and with roots going back as far as 1840, Heinle’s General Store has been an integral part of the local heritage, serving generations of families and visitors with a unique blend of essentials, local products, and timeless charm.

Heinle’s General Store stands as a testament to a bygone era when general stores served as the cornerstone of rural life in America. Originally established by William F. Heinle, the store began as a supplier of daily necessities for farmers, lumber workers, and local industries, such as leather tanning. Over the years, Heinle’s became a fixture in Sullivan County, known for its friendly service, quality goods, and the sense of community it fostered.

Through the hands of multiple generations, the Heinle family managed and preserved this local treasure. Douglas Heinle, who managed the store until his passing in 2011, is fondly remembered for his dedication to keeping the spirit of the store alive. Today, under the ownership of Bijay Singh, Heinle’s continues to honor its legacy while adapting to the evolving needs of the community.
